Frequently Asked Questions
Coworking
Can I sign up to become a Coworking Member online?
Nope. However, all it takes is reaching out to us via email, phone, in person, Instagram, carrier piegon... any old way. Once you make that initial point of contact, we will schedule a tour of the space to make sure it's a good fit. From there, we'll send you the Coworking Member Agreements which you can read to make sure they sound good to you. Once you sign the agreements, we'll give you the keys the kingdom.
Is there parking?
We found a unicorn y'all. We have a parking lot out front (which is pretty unique for Brunswick businesses). In order to be good neighbors, please only use the righthand side of the parking lot on Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. Our downstairs neighbors have the lefthand side of the lot during business hours. If the lot is full, not to worry! There is free street parking all around us. Better yet, we're planning to install a bike rack this spring as things warm up.
Is there food and stuff to do near Electric Cottage Collective?
OH YEAH! Our location is pretty awesome actually. 82 Pleasant Street is right at the beginning of the road that leads into downtown Brunswick, full of cute bars (we love The Abbey and Vessel & Vine), a movie theater, shops, multiple green spaces, many restaurants (Ritual Bakehouse is impeccable), grocery stores, etc. You won't need to go out for coffee because we've got that on lock, but there are a few great options if you want to take a walk.
Do Coworking Members get access to private space to make calls and have meetings?
We are more of a communal work space than a business center with private spaces to make calls. When our private rooms are at full capacity, they're being rented monthly as art studios or offices. If one of those rooms isn't being rented, Coworking Members are welcome to pop in and use them if they happen to be empty. If you'd like private space, there are two great options right on Pleasant Street within walking distance: The Curtis Memorial Library has a multitude of private rooms and the Brunswick Business Center. We happily support your use of other organizations around town.
Classes
Is it really OK for me to use scholarship funds?
YES! Long ago when we created the business plan for Electric Cottage Collective, we decided that it's our duty to incorporate anti-capitalist business practices into every aspect of the business. This scholarship fund was created with the vision of providing free or discounted classes to anybody who wants them. If you want to use the scholarship funds you don't have to explain why you want them, simply ask. The fund fluctuates, day to day.
What should I wear to class?
Each class has different suggested gear. When you go to sign up for a class, please read the class descriptions. Generally, if you're going to a visual arts class wear something you wouldn't mind getting a little messy. For our yoga, dance and fitness classes, wear something comfy, we're not fancy. We also ask that you don't wear outdoor shoes into the studio, this is to protect our friends who like to go barefoot. Those tiny little rocks can be painful!
Can I rent the space for an event?
Maybe! Our classroom space is held for our current class schedule and for our Coworking Members to use first and foremost. Reach out and ask though, if it's an event that is going to benefit the community in some way we'll probably say yes. Otherwise, let's have a conversation about it to figure out if we're the best fit for you!
Can I book a private class?
100% YES! We love facilitating private classes for you and your crew. Everything that we offer on our class calendar is available to book for just you or a group. Pricing varies depending on class/ group size. Private classes can be booked as long as they work around our current class schedule. To book a private class, please send and email requesting to book: Liz@ElectricCottageCollective.com
